Call me crazy, but I kinda ship these two. I know Mahad protects Atem, as he had sworn so to the former Pharaohs, Atems father. And always took care of him like an older brother or close cousin. Even closer than Seto has ever been. But still as adults I still feels like there could be more between them. Than a strong friendships or that of a devoted servant to his godly king. I think Mahad LOVED him, as he's still ready to sacrifice his own life for him. And Atem had a tremendous trust and belief in the powers of his beloved Mahad.
